Oct 25, 2022 - New Franklin, OH

The Summit County Engineer’s Office, in partnership with The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is proposing to rehabilitate the existing bridge carrying S Main St (CR 50) over Nimisila Creek in the cities of Green and New Franklin, Summit County, Ohio. The bridge is located approximately 0.15-mile north of Comet Rd (CR 64).

The existing single span bridge was built in 1991 and was deemed structurally deficient based on recent inspection. Improvements include installing new concrete box beams, a concrete deck, and minor approach roadway work.

All work will be completed within existing roadway right-of-way. Design and beam fabrication is expected to start in 2023 with construction complete by June of 2024.

The proposed bridge replacement operations will require closure of S Main St at Nimisila Creek for a period not to exceed 75 days. Traffic will be detoured utilizing Comet Road (CR 64) to Manchester Road (SR 93) to Nimisila Road (CR 57).

Detour information will be posted in advance of the bridge closure. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties for the duration of the project. Substantial traffic disruptions are not expected with the project.

The project will not result in any substantial impacts to environmental resources. The Summit County Engineer’s Office is requesting that any comments you may have regarding the proposed project and/or environmental impacts be submitted by November 21, 2022 to:
