The project will construct stormwater detention next to the small stream that runs north-to south near the western side of the ODOT southbound rest area property.
Status:
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will oversee the design and construction, with their selected engineer contracting Sustainable Streams for the design work. Construction will be carried out by ODOT’s contractor.
The Summit County Surface Water Management District (SWMD) will reimburse ODOT for the project costs. The Summit County Council approved a cooperative agreement with ODOT on June 2, 2025, to move the project forward.
Construction is scheduled to take place in coordination with the I-77 southbound rest area reconstruction, beginning September 1, 2025, during the closure of the southbound lanes. The completion date is to be determined.
Location:
It will benefit the Park Creek tributary to North Fork and Yellow Creek.
