Immediate Closure - South Main St. Bridge over Nimisila Reservoir

Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, PE, PS would like to alert residents and motorists of the immediate closure of the South Main Street Bridge over the Nimisila Reservoir. Additional deterioration found by bridge inspectors on July 6, 2023, has made it necessary to close the bridge to vehicle traffic to ensure safety.
Summit County Council and the Summit County Executive has already approved the construction contract to rehabilitate the bridge. Kenmore Construction is the contractor on the $645,000.00 project. The contract has a June 30, 2024, completion date but due to the need to close the bridge sooner than anticipated, the Summit County Engineer’s office has asked the contractor to expedite the construction of the bridge as much as possible.
The detour route will be posted. The detour involves Comet Road, Manchester Road (State Route 93), and Nimisila Road
