Feb 24, 2023 - Stow, Ohio
The Summit County Engineer’s Office has proposed a project to rehabilitate the Steels Corners Road bridge over Mud Brook in the City of Stow. The project includes bridge repairs including deck and parapet repairs, new expansion joints, pier encasement, concrete patching and sealing, pavement markings, and guardrail replacement.
Construction is expected to begin in late summer 2023 and last until late spring 2024. The project will be constructed part-width to maintain traffic westbound on Steels Corners Road, and the eastbound traffic shall be detoured as shown in the below map. Local traffic eastbound shall be maintained all the times to travel to Wyndham Ridge Drive. Each phase is anticipated to take 45 days. When the first phase of construction is completed, westbound traffic will be switched and work will begin on the other half of the bridge, while maintaining the detour for eastbound Steels Corners Road traffic.
All work will take place within the existing right-of-way. Environmental impacts are anticipated to include work within Mud Brook immediately under the structure. Construction access may impact wetland areas immediately adjacent to the roadway.
We welcome your questions and comments. To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, the Summit County Engineer’s Office is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Issues you may wish to comment on include, but are not limited to, the effect of the project on residents, air quality, the local economy, floodplains, and historic or cultural resources.
