Press Release
Future Engineers Wanted: Sign Up for the 2026 Miniature Bridge Building Competition!
Sep 16, 2025 - Summit County, OH
The Summit County Engineer’s Office is excited to announce the return of the Miniature Bridge Building Competition (MBBC) for 2026! Now entering its 25th year, this hands-on STEM event invites high school students from across Summit County to put their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering know-how to the test.
About the Competition
The MBBC challenges student teams to design and build small-scale bridges using the materials provided. Each structure will be judged on strength, efficiency, design, and creativity, giving students a chance to think like real engineers while having fun in the process.
Who Can Join?
All Summit County high schools are eligible to participate. Each school may register up to three teams of three students. Teachers and advisors are encouraged to guide and mentor their teams throughout the design and building stages.
Why Take Part?
This competition is more than just building bridges, it’s about building skills. Students gain valuable experience in teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving, while also networking with local engineers who serve as mentors and judges. Outstanding participants may even qualify for scholarships, making this an opportunity that can shape both education and career paths.
