Summit County Engineer’s Office Supports Local Children Through Holiday Giving Initiative

As the New Year approaches, the Summit County Engineer’s Office is reflecting on a holiday giving initiative that brought employees together at the close of the year to support children in the local foster care system through Summit County Children Services.
During this holiday season, 100 employees across two locations collectively donated $900, along with numerous gifts. Monetary donations were used to purchase much-needed items for children in foster care based on a wish list provided by Summit County Children Services. Items included pajamas, toys, and essential toiletries for children of all ages.
While the primary mission of the Summit County Engineer’s Office centers on maintaining county highways, roads, and bridges, employees also recognize the importance of serving the community in meaningful ways beyond transportation infrastructure. This annual initiative reflects the generosity of staff members who voluntarily gave their time and resources to support children in need.
Summit County Children Services currently serves approximately 180 children in the foster care system, many of whom face significant challenges during the holiday season. Contributions like these help provide comfort, dignity, and moments of joy during a time of year that can be especially difficult for children and families.
“Our employees consistently demonstrate compassion and generosity,” said Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S. “Ending the year by supporting children in foster care is especially meaningful, and I am proud of our team for stepping up to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”
Under Engineer Brubaker’s leadership, this annual giving effort reflects the office’s broader commitment to public service and to supporting organizations that serve Summit County’s most vulnerable residents. As the office looks ahead to the New Year, supporting the community remains an important part of its mission.
