MEDIA ADVISORY: 2020 Miniature Bridge Building Competition

Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S., Summit County Engineer, will host the 20th Annual Miniature Bridge Building Competition on Friday, February 14th at the Summit County Fairgrounds Arena Building. Registration begins at 7:45am and the presentation of awards takes place at 2:15pm. Bridge building will take place between 8:30am and 12:00pm. For any news organization who would like to send a photographer, bridge loading and testing begins at 12:45pm. Twenty-seven teams from twelve Summit County high schools will be participating.
The competition is designed to encourage high school students to implement scientific and mathematical principles they have learned in the classroom. Along with Engineer Alan Brubaker, seventeen engineering consulting firms and construction companies co-sponsor the annual event and offer scholarship opportunities for competition participants who choose a career in civil engineering.
