This project calls for the improvement of approximately 1.16 miles of Akron Peninsula Road, from approximately 1000 feet south of Truxell Road (C.H. 187) to Orchard Street, including pavement and shoulder and resurfacing.
This improvement of Akron Peninsula Road was included in a FY 2008 Appropriations request for federal aid for improving roads in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Our office was then awarded $475,000 for Akron-Peninsula Road from the Public Lands Highway Discretionary (PLHD) funds. Preliminary plans to improve Akron Peninsula include resurfacing the pavement and the shoulders.
The total estimated cost of the project is $510,000.00, with $475,000 of said cost to be funded by PLHD funds, $35,000.00 of said cost to be borne by the County of Summit, of which are 100% Engineer funds.
This project construction was completed in the summer of 2011.
